Bidford-based British Touring Car Championship team Power Maxed Racing looking to bounce back at Knockhill
THIS weekend sees the British Touring Car Championship head to Knockhill and Power Maxed Racing will be hoping for a much better showing than the previous round at Oulton Park.
The Bidford team struggled around the Cheshire circuit and managed to come away with just a smattering of points for their efforts.
The struggles started in qualifying where Dan Lloyd could only put his Vauxhall Astra 16th on the grid for race one after clocking 1:26.087 while team-mate Jason Plato was just behind in 18th after posting a time of 1:26.132.
Two-time champion Plato was certainly the one to watch for overtaking action in the opening race of the weekend, as he climbed his way up the order before coming home in a solid seventh place.
Lloyd also managed to make a few places up and crossed the line in 13th.
Race two proved to be a difficult one for PMR duo, with Plato ending the race down in 18th while Lloyd could only manage 21st and these places would be where they would start for the third and final race.
Here, the duo looked to end the weekend by scoring some points and they did exactly that, as Lloyd would cross the line in 11th to pick up five points while Plato registered three points for finishing 13th.
Meanwhile, Southam-based Laser Tools Racing will be looking to cement their position at the top of the team championship when they head to Knockhill this weekend, knowing Halford Yuasa Racing are hot on their heels.
Championship leader Ash Sutton started in 10th for the first race at Oulton Park last time out after posting 1:25.807 in qualifying, Aiden Moffat was slightly further back in 12th after clocking 1:25.940 and Carl Boardley was down in 19th in 1:26.141.
A frustrating race first race saw Sutton come home in 14th while Moffat enjoyed plenty of overtaking en route to his sixth-placed finish and Boardley would cross the line in 11th.
There would be better fortunes for the team in the second race, with Moffat finishing fifth, Sutton eighth and Boardley 11th.
The third race of the weekend would prove to be to the most dramatic, with Sutton involved in a crash just after the first corner which would force him to retire and bring out the red flag.
The race would be restarted and Moffat topped off a positive weekend for him with a fourth-placed finish while Boardley's race was ended due to brake failure.
