Player continuity key for FC Stratford, says head coach Ian Cooksey

FC STRATFORD have confirmed Ian Cooksey will remain as head coach for the forthcoming season – and his main aim is to ensure there is player continuity.

With FC now moving back to the Arden Garages Stadium to create the perfect pathway from academy football to the first team at step three, it means there’s a large pool of players for Cooksey to pick from for the 2022-23 Hellenic League Division One campaign.

Having had to keep chopping and changing his squad in the latter stages of the previous campaign, Cooksey hopes he will have more continuity in his first full season as head coach.

“We’ll be looking to give a good account of ourselves next season but the key thing for me is continuity of players,” he said.

“We want to create a good environment and have a good squad culture.

“When you’ve got players that are at training every week and playing week in, week out, it creates a good team spirit.

“Having a good team spirit is the key thing for me and hopefully that breeds success. It would be great to achieve the play-offs at a minimum this season.”
