SOME 500 eager athletes of all ages from 17 to 87 from across the Midlands took part in the 2024 Stratford Triathlon on Sunday cheered on by friends, family members and well-wishers.
Depending on their choice of event, participants began with a 400m or 200m swim in the leisure centre pool, followed by a 5km or 2.5km run beside the River Avon upstream of the leisure centre and ending with a 17km circular cycle ride out to Charlecote and back via Black Hill.
There was a special class for those who wanted to take part in aid of the cancer charity CRUK.
The youngest participants were 17-year-olds Alex Darnes, of Stratford, and Aoife Gallagher, of Team BRAT. The oldest was 87-year-old Judith Mackay of Redditch.
Now in its 29th year the Stratford Triathlon, organised by UK Triathlon, has seen thousands of competitors take on the challenge of swim, bike and run in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
The event is aimed at all abilities and all levels of fitness, from complete novice to club and pro triathletes, as well as charity and fun competitors.
