A SUCCESSFUL presentation evening for the 2017/18 Stratford Snooker League season was held at Stratford Sports Club recently.
The evening commenced with the Colin Clark Memorial Cup competition, contested by the season’s League Singles finalists and the Over 50s finalists.
The semi-final draw saw League Singles champion Stuart Watson having to make up a huge 112-point handicap over two frames against Serge Matthews.
Watson dominated the first frame and appeared set for a place in the final when he trailed by just 15 points.
However, the second frame went scrappy, Watson was unable to forge ahead, and Matthews produced a good clearance from the blue to win on the final black.
On the other table, Over 50s champion Brian Parker from Tysoe had a 40-point start over Edd Millard. The Kineton B captain reduced the deficit to just 11 after frame one, and was 22 ahead going into the colours in the last frame.
Parker had a chance to clear the colours, but missed the blue and Singles runner-up Millard claimed his place in the final.
Matthews had a 48 start for the final, but Millard had reduced that to just four after the first frame. Millard continued to dominate and went on to claim a well-deserved 149-92 victory.
The trophies for the season were presented by league chairman Peter Benstead, followed by a very well-supported raffle and buffet.
