FC STRATFORD made it five wins in a row after defeating higher league Pelsall Villa in a Les James Challenge Cup upset.

Dave Poulson’s side secured a 7-2 win at the Division Two side, led by four goals from young striker Dylan Parker.

James Gifford fired home the opening goal from Ashley Wilkes’ corner and Parker slotted a second from Tom Parnaby’s pass.

Pelsall pulled a goal back but Parker completed his hat-trick – first from Parnaby’s flick and then following up a Dean Poulson effort - to put Stratford 4-1 ahead.

Freddy Murphy added a fifth and though Pelsall again replied to make it 5-2 at half-time, the visitors were in unstoppable form.

Parker scored Stratford’s sixth after the referee played a good advantage after Ben Hill was fouled and Wilkes completed the scoring with a back-post finish after Ben Pattison and Adam Hemming combined.

Alcester Town also progressed into round two by toppling a Division Two side away from home.

Ellis Kalach scored twice in a 3-1 win at Earlswood Town, with Sam Bennett also on target. Matthew Whitehouse was the Earls scorer.

James Drinkwater took his goals tally to five in two matches but his Shipston Excelsior fell to a 5-3 home defeat to Birmingham Tigers in the Midland League Division Three.

Drinkwater scored twice and Jake Harris got the other for Shipston.

Elsewhere, Studley moved four points clear at the top of the Midland League Division One after a 3-0 away win at Chelmsley Town.

With Walsall Wood’s 100 per cent winning record coming to an end, the Bees made it five victories in a row – without conceding a goal - with goals from Matt Powell, Chris Cowley and Andy Nicol.

Racing Club Warwick were also in impressive form, chalking up a 6-0 success at Coventry Alvis.

Sean Kavanagh led the way with two goals, with further strikes from Robert Stephens, Martin Slevin, Adam Knight and Luke Church.
