GALLERY: Stratford slip to defeat as Olton & West Warwickshire captain stars with unbeaten 107

STRATFORD had no answer to Olton & West Warwickshire opener Adam Hussain as they fell to a fourth defeat in five matches.

Hussain recorded an unbeaten 107 to steer the visitors to a 44-run victory and show the hosts the way after seven of the Panthers’ batters got to double figures but no-one scored more than 29.

Hussain anchored the Olton innings. He shared in a 72-run second-wicket stand with Aman Hussain (23), a 71-run partnership with Marc Webb (22) and then a match-defining 100 runs with Arwand Barnard (54 not out) for the fifth wicket.

Henry Smith took 2-57 off ten overs and youngster Sammy Leaver marked his call-up with 1-46 off nine. Six of the top seven Stratford batters all got starts but no-one could put together a big score.

Josh Hickman (27) and Gareth Langman (29) started steadily to take the score to 53 without loss but then wickets fell regularly, including four for 18 runs in the late order. Matthew Warren (24), Nick Pepper (19), Smith (25), Josh Colwell (21) and Tom Grundy (28) all added to the tally but Stratford were out for 210 in the 43rd over.

The Panthers will look for better fortunes against Moseley Ashfield at Swans Nest Lane on Saturday.
