Our round-up of the weekend’s football action
FORMER Shrewsbury Town, Port Vale and Leamington striker Tyrone Barnett scored both goals as visitors Stourbridge condemned Stratford Town to a 2-0 defeat to further hamper their Southern League Premier Central play-off hopes.
But it was business as usual for Alcester Town as they won 4-0 at Kington Town to keep them on course for the Herefordshire Premier League title.
The Bards were well below par until the final stages of their game with their Black Country opponents, falling behind to Barnett’s 19th minute header.
The veteran frontman headed his second of the game early in the second half while Stourbridge keeper Lewys Benjamin pulled off decent saves to deny Dan Lafferty and Callum Ebanks.
Studley’s poor form in the MFL Premier continued as they lost 4-3 at lowly Tividale with Mackenzie Lamb scoring twice and Earlswood Town lost their Division Two match at Coventrians 2-0.
FC Stratford had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Ludlow Town in Hellenic League Division One - Toby Nicholl with the goal - but remain third in the table while Shipston Excelsior crashed out of the Ben Turner Cup, going down 3-1 at home to Oakley United.
Alcester did chalk up a win though, their ninth on the bounce in the league, as goals from George Davis, Luke Dugmore and two from Adam Garmson wrapped up a 4-0 win at Kington Town.
