Moss leads way as Do3 dominate the Warwickshire Triathlon
DAVE Knight’s Do3 squad stamped its authority as Warwickshire’s leading triathlon team by claiming a series of podium places at the Warwickshire Triathlon on Sunday.
The sprint triathlon is a highlight in the local calendar and was raced over a 400m pool swim, 18km cycle and 5km off road run.
Despite the initial freezing weather conditions, the squad took four podium places across the age groups.
Corinne Moss placed as first female overall while Jamie Chatfield, Sonya Tate and John Wrottesley were all first in their age groups.
Andrew White was second and Jonathan Ward and Vicki Hill were third in their respective age groups. More than a dozen of the Do3 squad raced at the event with Lisa Parry posting a personal best on the course.
Elsewhere, Neil Wicks claimed second at Storm the Fort Duathlon in Shropshire after crossing the finishing line in 5:27:35.
Further afield in Spain, three of the squad took part in Ironman Barcelona which was raced over a 3.8km sea swim, 180km bike and 42.2km run.
Louise Bottrill completed the event in a pacey 12:58:37 and Ian Dickens in 10:07:33. Yusuf Ibrahim-Zai, from Do3’s headline sponsor Helix Sport, completed Ironman Barcelona in 10:05:54.
Knight said: "Warwickshire Triathlon is a really popular event for the squad and I’m delighted at how many people took part from Do3.
"All the more I’m thrilled to see their hard work pay off with so many first, second and thirds.
"The guys in Barcelona achieved fantastic times over the long course race, equally those who competed closer to home were focussed, fast and most of all had fun."
