Moss bosses it at European Championships

DO3 triathletes made their mark at the 2018 Glasgow ETU Sprint Distance Triathlon European Championships event on Saturday.

Seven of the Warwickshire-based squad headed to Strathclyde Country Park and raced at age group for their respective countries; Great Britain, France and Ireland.

The championships brought Europe’s top triathlon talent together to compete over a 750m open water swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

Corinne Moss continued a stellar season of wins by placing third in her age group and was eighth woman overall. Her aggregated time of 1.13.12 was made up of an 11.35 swim, 36.04 bike and a 5km run in 21.50.

The rest of the squad also achieved success in the highly-competitive field of athletes drawn from more than 30 countries.

Racing at age group for Ireland, Seanin Gilmore completed the race in 1.21.44 and Mel Knight, who represents France, finished in 1.23.51.

Representing GB were Sonya Tate, who came over the line in 1.21.55, Kate Miller in 1.24.13, Isabelle Rayner in 1.21.59 and Jonathan Ward in 1.15.32.

“I’m delighted with my results, to podium with such stiff competition is an utter dream,” said Moss, who lives in Bishops Itchington.

“This season I’ve been fortunate to have had a lot of great races and without doubt it’s down to the team around me; from Dave Knight who coaches and guides me to my sponsors Stratford Cycle Studio, Shires Physio and Everyone Active who are all so generous in their support.

"To wear the GB kit is an amazing feeling and I’m proud that so many of my fellow squad member competed and did so well and were a part of a fantastically organised event."
