FC STRATFORD'S hopes of a third-placed finish in Midland League Division Three are all but over after a 4-2 defeat at Smithswood Firs on Saturday.

Troy Baker helped himself to a hat-trick and Curtis Thomas got the other as Smithswood boosted their promotion hopes at Mackadown Lane.

Will Matthews and Jay Tilbury were both on target for Stratford.

Alcester Town hit back from a goal down to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw at Badsey Rangers.

Ryan Attwood put Badsey ahead but Town's top scorer Matt Layton struck to earn the visitors a draw.

In Midland League Division One, a tired and injury-ravaged Racing Club Warwick, playing their third game in five days, were edged out 4-3 at Nuneaton Griff.

Jake Brown, Martin Slevin and Wade Malley netted in vain for the Racers.

William Gayton scored the only goal of the game as Littleton won at Atherstone Town, while Studley lost 3-2 at Pilkington XXX despite strikes from Charles Wilson and Daniel Dineen.

In Midland League Division Two, a late Jamie Corrigan penalty earned Earlswood Town a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Feckenham Town.
