Midland League weekend preview

They are also unlikely to make a quick return to the summit, with new leaders Hibs taking on bottom club AFC Solihull on Saturday.

This weekend's opponents Smithswood are down in sixth, but with five games in hand on Hibs and Stratford they are very much in the title race.

“Smithswood are a good side, but we need to be getting four points off them this season," said Stratford striker Will Matthews.

“We haven’t played them yet, so if we can get three points on Saturday then that would be a good start.”

Elsewhere in division three, Alcester Town will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Hibs when they entertain third-placed Barton United.

Shipston Excelsior bid to secure their second win on the bounce at Inkberrow, while Badsey Rangers can move into the top half of the table with a win over Coventrians.

In Midland League Division One, Southam United are at home to Cadbury Athletic, needing a win to move out of the bottom two.

Racing Club Warwick, still searching for their first win of 2016, head to Pelsall Villa.

Littleton consistently sit in the top half of the table and they welcome Atherstone Town to Five Acres.

Division two action sees a battle of the bottom two as Earlswood Town head to Feckenham.
