Medals galore Stratford and King Edward VI Boat Club rowers
THERE were five personal bests and a fistful of medals for Stratford Boat Club’s Wednesday participation squad at the King’s School Worcester Indoor Rowing Championship.
In what was their first taste of competitive rowing, there was understandably a lot of nerves among the crew which trains just once a week, however, they produced some fantastic results.
For the individual races, Annie Silvers took silver and Hannah Shilvock bronze in the year 9 girls’ event, while Ellis Bishop came away with silver in the year 10 boys’ race.
For the relays, the year 9 girls’ crew of Silvers, Shilvock, Amelia Welton and Estelle Littleford just missing out on gold to take silver, smashing their personal best in the process.
In the last race of the day, Ellis Bishop, Emma Francioni, Kate Currow and Ila Lane competed in the Year 11 mixed relay where, despite three of them only being in Year 10, they secured a bronze medal.
Joining Stratford Boat Club at Worcester was their sister club King Edward VI School BC with a squad of 21 athletes from years 8 to 13.
A successful day saw KES pick up eight medals.
