Macleod named new Alcester Town manager
FOOTBALL
ALCESTER Town have wasted little time in appointing Perry Macleod as the successor to Danny Janes as manager.
Janes ended two seasons in charge of the Total Motion Midland League Division Three side with a 3-1 defeat to Division Two outfit Redditch Borough in the Evesham Hospital Cup on Friday night.
Alcester moved quickly to bring in Macleod, whose coaching CV includes spells at Earlswood, Bromsgrove Sporting and Alvechurch. He will be assisted by Phil Carter.
“I was sold on the project and the ambition of Alcester Town going forward, I believe we share a winning mentality, which hopefully will translate onto the pitch,” said Macleod.
Macleod had been assistant boss at Earlswood before working with Paul Smith's Bromsgrove and then joining Alvechurch’s backroom staff as they completed a second successive promotion-winning season last term.
Pre-season starts on 30th June.
Meanwhile, Janes is considering his future, with talks planned over roles in coaching and assisting.
