Claverdon bounce back with victory at Burbage
CLAVERDON returned to winning ways with a comfortable 48-22 success over a spirited Burbage side.
The Lions got off to a perfect start with an early score by James Gibney, diving over in the corner after sharp hands down the back line.
A cagey 20 minutes followed as Burbage enjoyed territorial advantage but were unable to convert this into points.
Two quick tries before half-time moved Claverdon into a 19-0 lead, the highlight of which came from Sam Turrell running the length of the field, beating half a dozen defenders in the process.
The second half witnessed a plethora of tries from both sides. Claverdon initially extended their lead with some clever kicking from fly-half James Williams, including two for winger George Redwood and a 70m sprint for Gibney’s second.
With the game opening up, the teams shared four tries, before Burbage scored the final two of the game to gain a bonus point and a more respectable scoreline.
Claverdon welcome Southam to Ossetts Hole Lane on Saturday.
