Midlands Four West (South) leaders Claverdon put Kings Norton to the sword
TOP-of-the-table Claverdon made light work of Kings Norton on Saturday, running out emphatic 74-0 victors at Ossetts Hole Lane.
The Lions showed great strength from the off, with a simple yet effective backline attack, finished off by Chris Calcott, who also converted to take the score to 7-0 in the first two minutes.
Tries then came thick and fast, with both Sam Turrell and Calcott scoring hat-tricks – the former taking his try-count to nine this season already.
Kings Norton’s defensive weakness also allowed for some audacious tries, courtesy of their mobile forward pack.
Claverdon’s former colt player, Chris Johnson, ran one in from the halfway line, cementing his man-of-the-match performance.
Much can also be said for Claverdon’s determination to not concede a single point, with stand-out defensive performances from Ali Norman and Alex Grove.
Claverdon will now look to take their nine-game unbeaten league run away to Old Wheatleyans on Saturday in what is tipped to be the fixture of the season.
