Late penalty ends Town's unbeaten run
Frome substitute Tyler Sibbick kept his cool from the spot after he had been brought down by keeper Andy Kemp to give Frome their first away win of the season and it was the least they deserved.
Frome had fashioned the first opening of the game in the 10th minute when Jon Davies got away down the left to whip over a cross, only for Liam Monelle to fail to apply the finishing touch at the far post.
Soon after, a Frome corner caused panic in the Town penalty area with Kieren Westwood clearing off the line in quick succession from Sam Teale and Corby Moore.
At last, Town responded with Dior Angus forcing a full-length save from on-loan Frome keeper Dan Lloyd-Western in the 25th minute with a well struck effort from 20 yards out, and leading scorer Edwin Ahenkorah curled a left-footer inches wide when he cut in from the right five minutes before the break.
It was little surprise that an undistinguished first half ended goal-less.
It was more of the same after the break although the hopes of the Town supporters were lifted when striker Richard Gregory came on from the subs bench on the hour mark for his first league appearance since limping off in the opening game of the season at Htichin.
But it was Frome who continued to look the more likely to break the deadlock with Davies and Rob Hobbs both having goalbound shots blocked.
Then a minute from time, Town’s otherwise flawless Marcell Simpson’s misplaced pass allowed Sibbick to run in on goal and he went down as Kemp tried to smother at his feet. Referee Neil Pratt pointed to the spot and showed Kemp a yellow card before Sibbick drove the spot kick into the bottom corner.
