Lack of game time a concern for Town boss Adams

Stratford looked rusty, which is understandable when you consider it was only the team’s third game since 5th December.

Cirencester have played nine in the same space of time and Adams feels that proved the deciding factor on the night.

“It was a poor performance by us,” admitted the Town boss.

“I’m worried it’s going to take us two or three games to get back up to speed.

“If that is the case then you can kiss goodbye to the play-offs.

“We looked very rusty and it’s a real kick in the teeth for us.

“We’ve just got to forget about this one and move on to Saturday.”

This weekend Town head to Kettering Town, who Adams calls one of the non-league ‘big boys’.

He added: “They are a massive non-league club — one of the biggest.

“They are definitely one of the big boys. They might be 10th, but like us, they have games in hand and one win puts them in the play-offs.

“You’d be happy to go to Kettering and get a draw, but we’ll be trying to win it. Draws are no good to us.”

The game will be subject to a 10.30am pitch inspection at Latimer Park.

If the match does go ahead, Town will have to do it without defender Aaron Stringfellow, who serves the second of a two-game ban following his red card against Redditch.

Meanwhile, Town's scheduled home game against Hitchin on Tuesday, 26th January has been moved to Tuesday, 15th March due to Hitchin's cup commitments.
