The Stratford AC runner crossed the line in a superb 31:57, 30 seconds ahead of the second-placed runner and just five seconds off his personal best time and club record that he set earlier in the year.

Clubmate Matt Burdus-Cook finished ninth in a personal best time of 34:02, improving his PB by 18 seconds. He also finished fourth in the MV45 category.

Kruze said: “This was a great way to finish a nice block of races and a fun, well-organised event. We look forward to next year.”

Burdus-Cook added: “I’m really happy with my execution and getting my race back in control to run a PB.

“I’m honestly not bothered that I missed out on a medal, they didn’t look that good anyway.”
