Stratford Boat Club juniors put through their paces at Ironbridge Regatta




STRATFORD Boat Club’s juniors showed their mettle at the Ironbridge Regatta on Saturday.

There was a fantastic start for the club as Will Dalrymple-Baker claimed victory in the J15 1x band one race.

Jamie Wilcock crashed while in the lead and recovered well but ran out of time.

The WJ15 double of Nancy Davis and Jessica Long went on to win their race, while Harriet Froom and Esmerelda Elfwood came just short in the final.

Next up was Theo Richter, Xavier Sissins-Rofey, Seth Vondrak and Ollie Rowlands in the OpJ14 coxed squad. Coxed by Meg Nuttall, the crew won the final by four lengths.

Meanwhile, Poppy Baines was narrowly edged out by eventual WJ14 winner Daisy O’Reilly (City of Bristol) in her race.

In Division Two, Wilcock and Dalrymple-Baker raced twice to win the J15 2x band two event.

As for the WJ15 1x events, Aimee Appleton, Molly Vondrak and Eloise Cooper raced well but came up short against tough opposition.

There was success in the WJ15 4x+ event as Scarlett Richardson, Megan Rowan, Long and Froom, coxed by Davis, first beat City of Bristol and then Grange to take victory.

Also in Division Two, Alexandra Francis, Sophie Evans, Alice Jones and Lily Yang, coxed by Nuttall, won their WJ14 coxed quad by one length.
