WARWICKSHIRE Bears’ newest signing Siobhan Fitzpatrick lined up AGAINST her new team, but still lost out in a close-fought contest.

The Worcester-based Coyotes are made up of players from Great Britain women’s team, so they had first call on Fitzpatrick, who joined several GB internationals back on the court after a post-Rio Paralympics break.

Both teams were locked in a battle for control, with defences dominating as they cancelled each out until the Bears took a decisive lead with only seconds on the clock.

Coach Tom Masterson was naturally delighted to end a memorable 2016 on another high.

“What a game to finish the year off,” he said. “We were pushed all the way and again it showed why the women’s international team is looking so exciting for the future. Even today our own Aimee Hillson came off the bench to play a brilliant game to help us get the win plus get the MVP from the rest of her peers.”

The Bears are next in action when they travel away to London Thunder on 8 January.

The Bears are still looking for a sponsor for the team and also always looking to recruit new members especially female and junior players. If anyone is interested contact Bears at info@bearswbc.comor call 07946 518354.
