Henley-in-Arden's Hattie Cloves never wants to let go of BASC .410 World Championships Ladies Class crown
TALENTED clay pigeon shooter Hattie Cloves expressed her delight after being presented with the BASC .410 World Championships Ladies Class crown.
The 16-year-old’s success in the championships, which were held at Dovey Valley Shooting Ground in Machynlleth, comes after finishing as runner-up last year.
Back then Cloves, who is from Henley and a member of the 3 Lakes Gun Club in Tanworth-in-Arden, scored 15 out of 50 but this time around she put in a brilliant performance to score 35 and take the Ladies Class title.
She was then officially presented with her crown by Steve Griffiths, Wales director at BASC, at the gun club last Sunday (6th November).
Reflecting on her success, Cloves, who took up shooting at the age of ten, told the Herald: “I felt like I was shooting really well on the day but not once did I think I would win.
“I went there looking to beat my score from last year, which I did and that was something I was proud of.
“But to then find out I had won the Ladies Class was an amazing feeling.
“It was a wow moment for me and it was nice to be presented with my title surrounded by my friends, family and all those who have supported me at the gun club over the years.”
She added: “I’m looking forward to defending my title next year and the year after that, I really don’t want to let go of it.”
