Haslam claims podium finish at Eton Dorney

MARIA Haslam claimed a podium finish at the recent Shock Absorber Women Only Triathlon at Eton Dorney.

Taking part in the duathlon event, the Stratford AC athlete finished in third spot in an overall time of 1.20.38. She recorded a 5k run time of 22.03, followed by a time of 43.35 for the 21k bike ride and she rounded off with a time of 11.58 for the final 2.5k run.

Haslam said: “It was tough, the run was a straight line, out and back and it seemed endless, especially as on the first run you did it twice.

“The bike, which I hoped would be easy as it’s flat, was actually pretty awful because it was really windy alongside the lake. Fortunately everyone else found it tough too.

“I was fairly pleased with my first run in the heat, the bike time was poor and the second run was a means to an end.”
