But the goal-getter will be in Stratford’s ranks tomorrow when Coventry City visit the DCS Stadium for a county cup first-round tie (7.45pm).

Gregory, Town’s top scorer two years ago before moving to Rugby, played just half an hour in the opening day win at Hitchin, scoring a goal, before being crocked.

Town manager Carl Adams said: “Gregory has played three games at Tividale and he has done OK. He needs match fitness and will probably play for 45 minutes on Wednesday.

“Tividale haven’t got a midweek game so it’s a chance to see how sharp he is.

“At the moment, we are not a free-scoring team, only Edwin Ahenkorah is scoring regularly. It’s a chance for Gregory to show he’s ready to come and an opportunity to force his way into the team. The door is open.”

Town will be without both Aaron Moses-Garvey and Simeon Tulloch as they prepare to face the Sky Blues.

Both are away on work commitments and will also miss Saturday’s league game at home to Frome Town.

Midfielder Scott Hadland is also still absent with a hamstring injury sustained in the draw at Bideford.

Alex Price and Tyrone Fagan are both set to start while youth team hotshot Charlie Faulkner will also be in the 16. Coventry, who are playing tonight at Rochdale, are expected to send an Under-21s side to the DCS.
