STRATFORD Golf Club captain Graham Carter hosted his final competition last Saturday in the appropriately-named Captain’s Last Stand.

More than 100 golfers teed off simultaneously from different tees at 8am in a Pairs Betterball format.

All competitors then enjoyed a well earned brunch in the clubhouse followed by the prize presentation.

The winning team was Neale Grant and Roger Morgan on 46 points, closely followed by Kevan Humphriss and Phil Hodges, a point further back.

Carter has enjoyed his year immensely by getting involved in all of the competition calendar, in addition to hosting many of the club’s social events including gourmet evenings, quiz nights and night golf, not to mention his charity golf matches with club professional Julian Dodsworth in their Captain Pro challenges versus member pairs.

His highlight, however, was partnering local world top 30 golf star Andy Sullivan in a charity golf match at the club last autumn.
