Stratford AC's Paula Williams wins SEVEN golds at Midland Masters T&F Championships
PAULA Williams was the star performer for Stratford AC at the Midland Masters T&F Championships as she walked away with a stunning seven gold medals.
Williams was one of five club members who had turned up at a very wet and windy Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton for the championships on Saturday.
Competing in the W50 category, Williams claimed the top spot on the podium in all seven of the events she took part in.
Her victories were in the shot put with a personal best throw of 12.04m, high jump (1.29m), long jump (4.05m), triple jump (9.41m), javelin (32.45m), 100m (14.33s) and the hurdles (13.93s).
It was also a busy day for the club’s current athlete of the year, Elaine Ledden, who won gold medals in both the 100m and 200m in times of 15.95s and 33.71s respectively.
Ledden was particularly pleased with her bronze medal in the shot put where she recorded a personal best throw of 6.85m.
Christine Coote was successful in both of her events, winning a gold in the 200m (39.71s) and silver in the shot put (5.91m).
Chairman Paul Hawkins was delighted with his gold in the 2,000m racewalk (14:18), as was David Jones with his bronze in the 200m (37.07s).
Jones also came fourth in the 100m (17.86s).
Overall the team claimed 14 medals, including 11 golds.
