Gilmore secures Euro place with brilliant performance at Oulton Park
SEANIN Gilmore secured her place at next year's ETU Triathlon European Championships with a superb performance at the Oulton Park Duathlon last weekend.
Gilmore, who trains with Warwickshire triathlon squad Do3, was first in her age group and fifth female overall, completing the 8.6km run, 38.8km cycle and final 4.3km run in a time of 02:04:10.
The duathlon win concludes an impressive year for the athlete, who earlier in the season was seventh in the world at the ITU Duathlon World Championships.
Mike Davis also raced in Do3 colours in Portugal at Ironman 70.3 Cascais. He concluded the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run in a time of 5:40:26 while a dozen of Do3’s squad started their taper in readiness for the Warwickshire Triathlon on Sunday.
Dave Knight, Do3’s head coach said: "Seanin has trained hard throughout the season and gaining a place at the European Championships is a just reward.
"We have the upcoming 2018 ETU Championships in Ibiza at the end of October where a dozen of the squad will compete at middle distance.
"Closer to home, it’s the highlight in the local race calendar, the Warwickshire Triathlon. The squad has done our headline sponsor Helix Sports proud this year and underlined our shared ethos that hard work and perseverance pay off."
