STRATFORD Town Reserves rounded off a successful season in style with comprehensive wins over Redditch Borough Reserves 6-1 at home and 3-0 away at Kidderminster Harriers Reserves over the Bank Holiday weekend, reports Richard Price.
Prolific goal scorers Zidan Sutherland and Jake Collins were joined on the scoresheet by Kyron Cooper (2) and James Pomeroy (2) as Stratford overpowered lowly Redditch at the Arden Garages Stadium on Saturday.
After the game, the squad received their medals and the shield as runners-up in the Midland Reserve League from Stratford Town chairman Jed McCrory.
Two days later Cooper and Sutherland were again on the scoresheet, while Cian Hodson provided the third in the win over Kidderminster.
Victory over the young Harriers brought the curtain down on what has been a successful season for Stratford Town Reserves, who finished runners-up to Leamington.
From their 26 games this season, Stratford won 21, drew three and lost the other two. They were the second-highest scorers in the league with 89 goals and boasted the third-best defence, having conceded 30 goals.
Sutherland finished as the club’s and league’s top scorer with 29 goals in 26 games, while fellow striker Collins netted 19 in 23, putting him fifth in the league standings.
