FC opt for Chaundy as new boss

NEIL Chaundy will take charge of FC Stratford, filling the void left by Jon Hill who is heading out to Norway in the New Year.

Chaundy is no stranger to the club having managed the Hellenic League Division One side alongside Ian Cooksey back in 2022. He has also been working alongside Hill this season and son, Dan, is a first team regular.

Club chairman Steve Sykes said: “We have decided to give Neil the opportunity to step into Jon’s shoes – he knows the club very well. If you bring in a new manager then they inevitably bring their own players but I don’t think that’s what we need if you look at where we are in the division. We don’t need a big sweeping brush.

“What this will give us is consistency and having someone in charge who knows the dynamic of how we play. The continuity at this point of the season is key. We had people apply for the job but they were all talking about budgets and that’s something that FC haven’t got.

“We are in a better position in the league than in the past three years so hopefully it is going to be an interesting second half of the season for us.”
