Earlswood Town undone by Knowle's strong second-half performance

AFTER a bright start and taking a 1-0 lead, Earlswood Town went on to lose 4-1 to close rivals Knowle on Saturday, reports Sam Collins.

Jordan McKenzie put the Earls ahead before a strong second-half for Knowle saw Charlie Morris, Lewis Cosgrove and Tom Cullen score before debutant Peter Bailey finished the game off for the Midland League Division Two high-fliers.

The Earls started brightly at the Robins Nest and McKenzie gave the visitors the lead after ten minutes as he rounded the ‘keeper before tapping it home.

It was an eventful first half with plenty of stoppages and decisions for the referee to make, but the Earls hung on in a hard-fought battle.

However, two minutes into the second period the hosts equalised through Morris, who tapped home after a goal mouth scramble.

Just after the hour mark Knowle took the lead after a superb Dan Farr save gave them a corner, which Cosgrave headed home.

With ten minutes to go, two became three as Cullen, from the edge of the box, drilled one past Farr.

The game was put to bed as Knowle debutant Bailey grabbed the fourth in the 90th minute.

Earlswood will look to use a slight break from action to regroup before bouncing back at an away fixture on Monday, 27th December against ground tenants Barnt Green Spartak (2pm kick-off)

EARLSWOOD: Farr, Price, Tobin, Walker (Palmer 35) Froggatt, Wright, Doyle (Smith 65), Dunlevy, Matthews, McKenzie, Street. Unused subs: Nicholson, Nowaczyk, Smith.
