Drinkwater treble in vain as new Stratford Alliance Aquaid Division One leaders Central Ajax Reserves edge out Shipston Excelsior
JAMES Drinkwater’s hat-trick was not enough to prevent Shipston Excelsior from defeat as they were edged out 4-3 by new Stratford Alliance Aquaid Division One leaders Central Ajax Reserves.
Ajax went on to win the contest courtesy of goals from David Jones (2), Will Jeffries and Christopher Stringer.
AFC Bromsgrove dropped to second by virture of goal difference after they slumped to an 8-4 defeat at Bretforton Old Boys.
Aden Booth helped himself to a hat-trick, while Daryl Mitchell (2), James Clarke, Harrison Middleton and Kamil Zieba were also on target for third-placed Old Boys.
Fin O’Neill, Dan Hanson, Brigen Beqi and Jamie Callaghan scored for Bromsgrove.
In Walls & Ceilings Division Two, Blockley registered just their second win of the campaign after they got the better of Badsey Rangers 4-1.
Sam Cooper, Matthew Halford, Jack Kristunas and Connor Matthews got on the scoresheet for Blockley. Benjamin Higgins replied for the visitors.
Shottery United consolidated second place with a narrow 4-3 win away at Claverdon Reserves, thanks to goals from Alex Povey (2), Jake Woolley and David Fawcett.
Elsewhere, Inkberrow Academy brought an end to their five-game winless run with a 3-1 success over basement boys Bearley United.
Steve McManus, Shae McNally and Adrian McNally got the goals for Inkberrow.
Meanwhile, unbeaten Meadow Park caused an upset in the RM Smith Cup semi-finals as they thumped Division One outfit FC Wickhamford 6-1 to set up a tie against Bretforton Old Boys in the final.
Connor Powell was star of the show for Meadow Park with four goals.
Sam Horton and an own goal completed the scoring for the hosts.
