WARWICKSHIRE Bears’ second team suffered disappointment on the road as they were beaten 43-28 by Cardiff Met Archers on Sunday.

The Bears were missing a number of their first choice starting line-up and called upon members of Bears 3 to fill in.

With impressive displays from Aimee Hillson, Andy Stow and junior Aaron Grant, the Bears were hoping for a win in order to secure their survival in National League Second Division South.

But it was not to be and the Archers never looked back after taking control in the second quarter.

“It was always going to be difficult with us missing some key players,” said coach, Derek Hall.

“But I think the three players who played up today were magnificent. This demonstrates exactly what we are looking to do at the club — to push players up through the ranks of teams.”

Three Bears teams are in action this Sunday when they play their final home fixtures of the season.

Bears 1 and 2 take on Leicester Cobras 1 and 2, while the third team face Hackney Sparrows.

Meanwhile, the Bears are looking to recruit new members, particularly female and junior players. For further details, e-mail info@bearswbc.com
