FOOTBALL
DAN Carter marked his debut for Alcester Town with a two-goal show to help seal a 5-3 win at Coventry Plumbing.
Matt Magee also scored twice in a victory which pushed Matt Seeley and Richard Briggs’ side into fourth place in the Midland League Division Three table.
After Magee struck first, Cov levelled from the spot before former Paget Rangers golden boot winner Carter was quickly on the goalcharts with a penalty for 2-1.
Further goals from Carter and Magee extended the lead, only for the hosts to pull it back to 4-3 before Callum Burston-Keeley settled any nerves with a fifth for the Red and Blacks.
Central Ajax are the new leaders after a 4-1 win at Castle Vale Town elevated them two points ahead of AFC Solihull, albeit having played four more games.
A 24th-minute penalty from Alex Andrews and a 39th-minute strike from Craig Robins put Ajax 2-0 ahead before Castle Vale replied just before half-time.
Will Pendred made it 3-1, converting a rebound after his first effort was saved, before Matt Layton netted a fourth with 15 minutes to go.
To complete a great day for the district’s Division Three sides, Shipston Excelsior celebrated their first win of the season after a 4-2 victory at Leamington Hibernian in the Challenge Vase.

Shipston will visit Central Ajax next Saturday in the Vase second round.
