STRATFORD Rugby Club’s newly-appointed president Jo Littler has been shortlisted in the 2016 RFU President’s Annual Awards programme.

This year the programme attracted more than 500 entries across ten categories and Littler is one of four finalists in the People Power category.

The awards recognise the contribution individuals make to their rugby union club.

The presentations and awards will take place on Sunday, 29th May, beginning with a champagne reception and presentations made by RFU president Jason Leonard and senior vice-president Peter Baines.

Stratford club secretary, Charles Beighton, said: “All of our volunteers provide a significant amount of effort and energy to ensure the rugby club runs effectively.

“Jo makes a massive contribution to the club be it through her fundraising activities, organisation of events, helping to oversee the running of the club through to the maintenance of all of the pitches.

“Given that this is a nationwide awards programme this really raises the profile of Stratford Rugby Club within the sport and rugby community.

"It helps to further demonstrate the way the club is going from strength to strength.”

Club chairman, Laurence Kirk, added: “Having had a record season on the pitch and also won the Stratford District Awards team of the year to hear that Jo has been selected for this national award is the icing on the cake.”
