Brown: Yasser deserves his Stratford recall
STRATFORD captain Mike Brown believes now it’s time for overseas signing Yasser Sirdar to star.
Sirdar’s form with the Panthers’ 2nds has earned a recall to the first XI after a month-long absence for Saturday's Birmingham League Division Two trip to Oswestry.
Sirdar smashed a brilliant 154 last weekend in the 2nds’ winning draw at Sutton Coldfield Town and will replace Harry Adams.
Brown said: “Yasser has performed really well in the Seconds. He has got some run behind him.
“He has done exactly what I’ve asked after a few weeks with the Seconds.”
Seamer Brown is also unavailable for trip to Oswestry, with Sam Douthwaite taking his place.
After last week’s stunning seven-runs win against title-chasing Shifnal, Stratford will head to the Welsh borders full of confidence.
The victory pushed them out of the bottom two, one point ahead of Coventry and North Warwick, and they know another win at Oswestry, who lie ten points ahead of Stratford, will drag their opponents also into the relegation scrap.
Having played the top three in the past three weeks, Stratford will face teams ranked fifth or lower in the current standings and Brown says they need to keep producing the form they have against the leading teams.
“Last weekend’s win was an important one because Coventry and North Warwick played bottom of the table Stourbridge and they could have opened a gap ahead of us,” said Brown.
“We’ve now played all of the top four twice so our fixture list is now all against teams from fifth and below.
“There’s still a lot of tough games ahead. Just because we’ve beaten one of the top sides, it doesn’t mean it’s just going to happen automatically in the rest of the fixtures.
"We need to play like we did against Shifnal every week.”
