Bertie hat-trick firers Racing Club Warwick to goal spree
TREA BERTIE bagged a hat-trick as Racing Club Warwick swept aside Littleton to remain in touch with the title pacesetters.
A 6-2 home win left the Racers third in the Midland League Division One, two points behind leaders Lichfield City, who have played three more games, and one behind Atherstone Town, who have played two games more.
Warwick had effectively settled the contest at half-time with a 3-0 lead. Jack Jeys opened the scoring on 15 minutes, followed by Bertie on 24 minutes and then Ben Mackey converted a penalty on 35 minutes.
Bertie made it 4-0 a minute into the second half before Littleton got one back through Matt McGee.
Bertie completed his hat-trick but Antonio Alcaraz Zamora replied for the Ton Boys again before Scott Turner netted the Racers’ sixth with eight minutes to go.
Studley were paid to pay for a lacklustre, error-prone display after being slammed 5-2 at Stapenhill.
The hosts had ended a run of seven games without a win last weekend, and they rolled over the Bees after bagging three goals inside 36 minutes.
Lewis Campbell (4mins), George Teaney (12), Josh Garland (36) put the Swans in charge before Mohammed Sibbah-Njie replied.
Niall Dawkins added two more for the hosts and Brandon Hague’s 89th-minute effort was very much a consolation for the Bees. Injuries to Sean Cooke and Shay Palmer, with both having to be subbed at half-time, added to Studley’s day to forget.
In Division Two, Earlswood Town staged a second-half recovery to defeat Coton Green 4-2 at The Pavilions.
Dan Stokes scored twice for Town, with Ben Cox and Harry Street also on target.
