Robbie Bunn's first-half strike proves decisive as Studley edge out Littleton to go top of Hellenic League Division One table

A DEPLETED Studley side went top of the Hellenic League Division One table on Tuesday night – albeit maybe for only 24 hours – as they managed to come away from their trip to Littleton with a backs-to-the-wall 1-0 victory.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides, but Studley – who came into this game on the back of Saturday’s 6-1 demolition of Bourton Rovers – grew into the contest.

The Bees started to get on top as the half wore on, forcing the Littleton goalkeeper into making a couple of good saves.

The all-important goal came in the 30th minute when Kieren Donnelly made a good run down the wing and squared the ball to Robbie Bunn on the edge of the box, who found the corner of the net with a sweet shot.

The second half was dominated by Littleton, although the Studley defence stood firm, limiting the hosts to only a few clear-cut shots on goal.

Indeed, Odane Barnes should have equalised from ten yards but could only blast over after the ball had come back off the bar on the hour mark.

As much as Littleton strived for the equaliser, they could not find a way through Studley who saw the game out.

The three points moved the Bees to the top of the table, but with Worcester Raiders due to play Moreton Rangers today, Wednesday, they could find themselves back in second.
