Bees buzzing ahead of a tough run of games

STUDLEY face a testing few days as they look to build on a run of results that has seen them lose just one of their last six matches.

Saturday saw Mike Fowler’s side run out 3-0 winners at home to AFC Wulfrunians in the MFL Premier Division and they were due to head to league leaders Lichfield City last night (Wednesday). Saturday sees them go to second-placed 1874 Northwich before travelling to Southern League Premier Central side Stourbridge in midweek.

Against Wulfrunians, two goals in as many minutes just before the break from Szhem Whyte-Hall and Jamie Spiers put the Bees in control with Ashton Demulder capping an impressive performance by grabbing the third less than a minute into the second period.

And for Fowler, a fifth clean sheet in six games was just as important as the victory as his side moved to just outside the play-off places.

In Division Two, Earlswood Town were without a game but return to action on Saturday when they host Birmingham United.

FC Stratford’s three-match winning run came to an end when they were beaten 3-1 at home by Hellenic League Division One high-fliers Redditch Borough.

A second half goal from striker Sam Rodber was scant consolation for the home side who can now look forward to a run of five home games starting with Saturday’s match against Tytherington Rocks.

Southam United slumped to the foot of the table after they lost 3-0 at home to previous basement-dwellers Carterton. Saturday sees them head to another of the early season strugglers Newent Town.

Alcester Town continue to lead the way in the Herefordshire League Premier Division thanks to their 4-0 defeat of Gloucester City Reserves. Connor Perry-Holmes led the way with a brace with the other goals coming from Adam Bourn and Jake Wicketts as the Romans made it seven wins from seven. They go to AFC Kempsey on Saturday.

Finally, Shipston Excelsior lost their Oxfordshire Senior League Presidents Cup tie 2-0 to Thame United Reserves and will be hoping to bounce back when they travel to struggling Summertown Stars on Saturday.
