Bards skipper laments missed chances

STRATFORD Town skipper Paul McCone has sprung to the defence of young keeper Louis Beresford following his side’s 2-1 defeat at AFC Telford United on Saturday.

First team regular Liam O’Brien was unavailable for the trip to Shropshire resulting in a recall for the teenager who had been on loan with Midland Football league side Bewdley Town.

And the keeper looked nervous in front of nearly 1,000 fans as the home side eased into a two-goal lead before Dan Lafferty struck for the Bards before half-time.
