Bards go back to basics following exit

IT has been back to basics for Stratford Town’s players this week after the side crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Worksop Town at the weekend.

A first half Owen James strike and a late Alex Worley effort were not enough to salvage anything for the Bards who have now lost three in a row ahead of a tricky double-header – at home to newly-promoted Bedford Town on Saturday and away to in-form Stourbridge on Tuesday.

“We need to stick a fork in the ground now and go back to basics,” admitted coach Paul Davis. “We need to start the season again at training this week. We had a good first week of the season but we have now been beaten three times and we’ve gone from not conceding many goals to looking as though we could concede a hatful.
