Plenty of success for Ash Sutton and Southam-based British Touring Car Championship team Laser Tools Racing at Knockhill
ASH Sutton and Laser Tools Racing continue to lead the way in the drivers' and teams' standings of the British Touring Car Championship after a successful weekend at Knockhill.
Sutton would line up sixth for the first race of the weekend after posting a time of 51.305s in qualifying, Aiden Moffat was right behind in seventh in 51.306s while Carl Boardley found himself much lower down the grid in 25th after clocking 51.763s.
In an action-packed race, which included a large safety car period due to Dan Lloyd going off the track, Sutton would eventually come home fourth for Southam-based Laser Tools.
Moffat, racing on his home track, finished where he started while Boardley had worked his way up to 18th.
Race two would also see a period of time spent under two safety cars and in a dramatic conclusion Sutton overtook Colin Turkington on the penultimate lap to snatch victory.
Moffat would eventually come home eighth while Boardley once again made moves up the grid, finishing tenth after starting 18th.
More solid points were available for Laser Tools in the third and final race, with the reverse grid placing putting the team ninth, tenth and 11th on the grid.
Full of flat-out racing, there was plenty of battles out on track and with no dramas this time around, Sutton crossed the line in fifth, Moffat in seventh and Boardley unlucky in 11th.
At the end of the round, Sutton leads the drivers' standings by 14 points from Tom Ingram and 34 from Turkington while Laser Tools lead the teams' championship by 37 points from BTC Racing.
The next round of the British Touring Car Championship takes place at Thruxton on the weekend of 28th-29th August.
