Alcester march into county Vase second round

FOOTBALL

ALCESTER Town produced a clinical second-half performance to seal a 6-0 win at Central Ajax to reach the second round of the Birmingham Saturday Vase.

A single strike from Luke Dugmore gave Alcester the lead a half-time but they stepped up their game after the break and took their chances ruthlessly.

Callum Burston-Keeley finished with two goals, and Tom Keogh, Tez Morton and Callum Debar also netted.

Shipston Excelsior’s hopes were wrecked after they bowed out 4-1 away to Birmingham League side Birmingham Medics.

Wes Mack got the goals for the visitors.

Earlswood Town were in goal-hungry mood as they smashed Birmingham League visitors Silhill 9-0 at the Pavilions in the same competition.

Dan Stokes scored four, with further strikes from Anton Nunes Kielo Brown, Nick Cox, Gary Walker and man-of-the-match Ben Cox.

Dale Edwards was on target for Studley as they earned a well-deserved point at title-chasing Heather St John’s in the Total Motion Midland League Division One.

The Bees struck first through Edwards but Dean Rathbone equalised for the Saints.

Both sides had half chances to snatch the winner but the Bees defended well against one of the league’s top-scoring sides.

Studley are in action tomorrow night (Tuesday) when they visit Gornal-based Black Country Rangers in the Birmingham Midweek Floddlit Cup.
