Alcester boost promotion hopes with signing of Hay
ALCESTER Town have boosted their Midland League Division Three promotion hopes with the signing of versatile defender Dean Hay.
Hay joins Danny Janes’ side from Redditch Borough at a crucial stage of the season as they bid for a top-three finish.
Janes insisted the capture of Hay was a massive coup for the club, saying: “Yet again we have added another quality player.
“We were a bit stretched in defence as we have lost Matthew Chambers and Keiran Downey is suspended for three games.
“We wanted to strengthen in that area anyway so we could add more depth and more competition for places.
“I played with Dean during my time at Redditch Borough and I really liked him as a player, he has pace and is technically very good. In terms of how we play he will fit in really well, I can’t wait to get him playing.”
Janes also signalled that the club were likely to announce a further signing within the next week, adding: “We identified four potential targets, two of those haven’t materialised, now Dean is on board we are hoping to get one more over the line next week.”
After last weekend’s Vase tie with AFC Solihull fell victim to the weather, Alcester return to league action this Saturday at Castle Vale Town.
