CARL Adams admitted his Stratford Town side were beaten by the better team as they were beaten 2-0 by play-off hopefuls Hungerford at the DCS on Saturday.

Town were second best for long periods as goals from Stefan Brown and James Rusby saw the visitors claim a comfortable victory.

“We were beaten by a better side," said Adams.

"They are a very strong and streetwise outfit and although they never really carved us open, they simply ground us down - particularly in the second half.

"They reached the play-offs last season and will probably do so again this time round.

"That just shows the quality of opposition we have to face in this league week in and week out.

"But it’s all part of the learning curve at this level. We have to deal with it and we will look to get back on track at Kettering on Tuesday.”

Town are aiming to complete a league double at Latimer Park after beating the Poppies 2-1 at the DCS back in September.
