Adams: Staying up would be my biggest achievement
CARL Adams says keeping Stratford Town in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division would be “the biggest achievement” of his managerial career.
Adams has presided over the club’s rise from the depths of the Midland Alliance to the Southern League’s top flight with Town currently 19th and seven points clear of the drop zone.
Despite the buffer, Adams is adamant there could be no let up as his players bid to preserve their status of their debut campaign at this level.
“I feel our biggest achievement yet would be to stay in this league,” he said.
“We have to always keep perspective of where we are now and where we were three years ago.
“Let’s not forget — when we started this season the bottom line for everybody was to stay in this league.
“I feel if we can get to 46 points then it will be very hard for the likes of Paulton and Histon to catch us.
“Then, when we can get to that point we can start to relax a bit. With a few adjustments next season we can be a very good team in this league.”
An extremely testing Easter weekend lies in wait for Town, with a trip to former leaders Poole Town on Saturday before Monday’s home game against local rivals Leamington, whose recent good run of form has seen them shoot up to third in the table.
