You give the thumbs up to station’s £750k makeover
When asked what the respondents liked about the design of the station, 56 per cent of the respondents were pleased with the aesthetic improvements.
The attractiveness of the station and the improved facilities were the most popular of the proposed new features, including the new façade of the building, better waiting rooms and toilet facilities.
And when asked about what else people would like to see in the proposals enhanced visitor information was the most popular choice by the respondents, followed by a covered waiting area which would have seating available.
The work is being funded by £500,000 that has been secured by station operator London Midland from the Department for Transport’s National Stations Improvement Programme fund and £250,000 from the county council.
Brenda Lawrence, London Midland head of route, said; “It was great to hear people’s views at the drop-in event but it is not too late to have your say and help us make really great improvements to the station.”
Cllr Peter Butlin, the council’s portfolio holder for transport and planning, said: “Public support for the upgrade to the station was very clear and we are keen to get on with delivering these improvements.”
