THE owner of a 1943 Tiger Moth plane has made the wishes of a Second World War serviceman come true with a flight to remember over the rolling countryside of south Warwickshire last Saturday.

David Findon, owner and pilot of the Tiger Moth and a member of Bidford Gliding and Flying Club, took to the skies with 95-year-old Stanley Evans from Upton on Severn as his passenger.

Stanley served in the RAF as an electrical engineer based in Egypt servicing war planes in 1942.

David Findon said: “The plane was syndicated in 1975, when I was one of the shareholders, and it came here – Bickmarsh - in 1984. I have been flying it for 46 years and all flying is fun and the Tiger Moth has its special role, particularly at this time of year when the weather is warm,” he added.

The treat was organised by Stanley’s brother-in-law, Frank Jeynes, chief flying instructor at Bidford.
