Woman suffers facial burns in Bishops Itchington assault

A 40-year-old woman has suffered facial burns after a substance was thrown into her face by a man in Bishops Itchington.

The assault took place on Monday night just before 10pm on Lakin Drive, when the victim was walking along the road.

After throwing the substance, the attacker made off, while the victim went into a shop and managed to raise the alarm.

She was taken to hospital where she was treated for superficial chemical burns.

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and either witnessed the incident or has information which might help them with their enquiries.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail until 10 September.
