Woman dies in Fosse Way crash
A WOMAN has died after the car she was travelling in collided with a tree near Moreton Morrell yesterday morning, Sunday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the Fosse Way shortly after 9.15am and sent two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.
It was reported on the Herald website yesterday that the woman's Land Rover crashed into a tree, after hitting a deer.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews were told that the car had collided with a tree after leaving the road.
“The driver, a woman, was found to have suffered extremely serious injuries.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
“A young boy, who was also travelling in the car, was treated for minor injuries and taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment.”
A spokesperson from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue said: “Upon arrival, firefighters found one Land Rover on the roadway that had been in collision with a tree.
"The vehicle had been in collision with a deer prior to hitting a tree.
“Two casualties were involved, one male was assisted from the vehicle prior to the arrival of the fire service and one female was released from the vehicle using clan lucas cutting equipment.
"Fire crews were at the scene for just over one hour.”
