Wellesbourne Spring Show hailed as a great success

ORGANISERS of the Spring Show for the Wellesbourne Horticultural Society have called the bi-annual event a success.

The event, which attracted over 200 people, was held at the Wellesbourne Village Hall from 2.30-4.30pm Saturday 7 April with 32 categories included in the show.

Joy Cole and David Smith tied to win the floral category and will share the Challenge Cup trophy. Marion Allerton won Oldham Cup for the Floral Art category. Carol Evered won the Granville Cup for the Cookery category, which included multiple separate categories ranging from homemade breads, cakes and jams.

Holly Chowdhury won the Ken Wheeler trophy for the children’s section. Gill Troth won the newest category The Harry Bryan Memorial Trophy, created to honour past chairman, Harry Bryan.

Guy Harrison, the group’s chairman, said: “We are trying to broaden the appeal of the show. It’s about fun with a focus on promoting horticulture and kitchen craft. It’s also maintaining a sense of community for the Wellesbourne and Walton district. It’s about fun and getting people together for a good time.”
