Wellesbourne Lupus Walk raises funds and awareness

A WALK in aid Lupus UK saw over £150 raised at the Wellesbourne Bowls Club over the weekend.

Donations from the Wellesbourne community and Rybrook BMW raised a total of £164.70 at the event, held Sunday afternoon.

Kodie Butler, 13, of Wellesbourne, organised the event for her mum, who has Lupus.

The 5K walk started at the Wellesbourne Bowls Club and went to Walton Hall and back again on Sunday. A social was held at the Bowls Club afterwards, which included drinks, a raffle, and stalls with jewellery, clothing and tombola.

Claire Bryan, who took part in the walk to support her friend, who is Kodie Butler’s mother, said: “I was born with a dislocated hip, but I was determined to do it because she’s a very close friend.”
